Eternally Yours is bringing vampires to CBS, and there’s a reason Ghosts fan might recognize a few names!

Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, the showrunners behind CBS’s Ghosts, created the new comedy, but it’s not considered a spinoff series.

Paramount+ identifies the shows as separate stories, although the producers have discussed a way their characters could meet.

How is Eternally Yours connected to Ghosts?

The connection starts behind the camera, but Ghosts also helped Eternally Yours nab its series order.

Wiseman explained during a September press discussion that the vampire project had previously been passed over. The success of Ghosts allowed them to return to it, according to TV Insider.

“It has been brought from the dead,” he said at the time, “which seems appropriate for vampires.”

The two shows also share at least one cast member in Rose Abdoo, who played Paula on Ghosts and portrays Phyllis on Eternally Yours. During the press convo, she joked about how much she’d enjoy the two characters finding out that “perhaps they were sisters or cousins.”

“There could be Paula and Phyllis universe, but I told the guys I’m perfectly willing to go to Woodstone as Paula. I love doing Paula, but I love doing Phyllis too. I can’t pick,” she teased.

Could the shows have a crossover?

Woodstone could eventually welcome some vampire guests. Wiseman said the team had been discussing a crossover, with a visit to the B&B offering a potential way to bring the casts together.

“Yeah, we’ve been talking about that a lot. That’s something that we are excited about doing. So it’s definitely a possibility,” he said.

Eternally Yours premieres Thursday, October 8, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, with episodes available the following day on Paramount+.
