“You Can See Everything”
2027 Academy Awards Predictions Commentary All Categories (Updated: Oct. 8, 2026): Lots of moving pieces as the season treads along.
The New York Film Festival gave the first set of eyes on Luca Guadagnino’s intense dramedy “Artificial,” which could be a major player for Neon, who picked it up after Amazon MGM Studios dumped it earlier in the year. The film could be a force in multiple categories including best picture and supporting actor for Andrew Garfield, who could be the big spoiler if the season breaks his way.
NYFF is about to conclude with Ava DuVernay’s documentary feature “14th,” which will have a new original song by Brittany Howard and Robert Glasper.
Other buzzy movies include Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s “You Can See Everything,” which screened at NYFF and in Los Angeles, where it received a rapturous response. As the days continue, it’s looking like we could have our very first nonfiction movie nominated for best picture. Whether or not it makes the ultimate documentary feature shortlist will continue to plague pundits.
Entries for the Golden Globes continue to break around the industry. Mike Leigh’s “Tender Loving Care” will enter the comedy categories, along with Curry Barker’s “Obsession,” which has some on social media scratching their heads.
This week’s updates are below.
