Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf‘s date of separation may be linked to abuse allegations against LaBeouf.

In an October 6 divorce filing, Goth listed their date of separation as July 28, 2025, which was just days after it was confirmed that LaBeouf would privately settle a case taken by ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs, who accused the Transformers actor of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress.

On July 22, 2025, Rolling Stone reported that Twigs’ lawyer filed to dismiss the lawsuit after reaching a private settlement with LaBeouf. Lawyers for both parties confirmed this news in a joint statement. “Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court. While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future,” the statement read.

Per Goth’s divorce filing, she and LaBeouf ended their relationship just six days earlier. The exes, who met in 2012, married in 2016 and broke up two years later only to reconcile by 2020 and welcome their daughter, Isabel, in 2022.

In March of this year, LaBeouf opened up about his split from Goth during an appearance on “Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan” and alluded to a problem in their relationship that dated back to before their daughter was born. “We were deeply unhappy,” he said. “I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.”

In Twigs’ lawsuit, which was initially filed in December 2020, the British singer accused LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress. Twigs, who was born Tahliah Barnett, alleged that LaBeouf terrorized and assaulted her, both verbally and physically, during their year-long relationship that started soon after they filmed Honey Boy together in 2018.

Twigs claimed LaBeouf tried to choke her multiple times, including once during an alleged attack at a gas station in February 2019. LaBeouf “threw Tahliah against the car and attempted to strangle her violently while screaming in her face,” the lawsuit said. She further alleged that before the gas station incident, the actor threw her to the ground outside a hotel and drove “maniacally” in a car while threatening to crash unless Barnett “professed her eternal love for him.”

LaBeouf initially appeared apologetic tone after Twigs came forward with her claims. “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt,” he wrote in an email New York Times responding to her allegations. He later denied her allegations in a response to her complaint.
